Wow, I'm with you on the "ground up" idea - starting with those teachers entering the field. I tend to think that those who have grown up with web 2.0 would naturally adapt it to their professional lives, but this isn't necessarily the case in my professional world either.

I firmly believe we'll see true transformation when institutes of "higher" education truly transform - not just in having the latest and greatest, but in tenured professors embedding these tools in their instruction and methods of assessment. However, they are institutions . . .

Wow, what if instead of targeting Princeton, Harvard, or Stanford because of name recognition, parents, their legacies, and alumni donors went after the programs that prepared its students for an exponentially changing future?

The Thinking CHICK - I love the connection!

Hear! Hear! Why is this such a challenge for education? Is it because the professors teaching these teachers don't see the value? Because we don't expect our universities to be as current as our PK-12 institutions? Because we aren't holding teacher training programs accountable (instead blaming the teachers)?

I certainly don't have the answers, but I'm definitely just as frustrated as you.
